'great' would be a gross exadgeration for Tofu U. 60's hippies have never been noted for their perpensity with reguards to rational thought or common sense.
I had a Humanities professor there who'd kick off his berkinstoc sandals exposing his stinky hippy wool socked feet, then he'd proceed to attempt to bash - guess who ? That's right mean ol' christian white men, he'd poorly try to twist the words in the old testiment, I say poorly because the students easily picked wholes in his distortions. Talk about an old liberal hippy trying to push his morals and view of life on a bunch of virgin ears. Such is life at Tofu U.
I hear there is something going on at UM now, something about not allowing some christian based group to do something that every other multicultural/alternative lifestyle, groups are allowed to do. When I was there they use to do all those March for dignity kind of events......I guess it didn't work because they still don't have any dignity up there as far as I'm concerned.
It's pretty noted for being a party school that any moron can get into, seriously that's the reputation it has. But who cares if all you need is a degree you might as well get it at a party school. Once you graduate nobody really gives a crap where you got your degree. There are two kinds of degrees.....those from Ivy League schools and second - all the rest.

It was good enough to net a $75k job after graduation, which was certainly good enough for me.

Depends on what you are looking for in a university. It has great schools of journalism, pharmacy, and forestry. Has a law school. Doesn't have a medical school. Great athletics. Close to innumerable outdoor rec activities. Not many minority students, but some. Can you be more specific?

I'd have to agree. UM then could be a good place or a bad place for you......when I was at UM in an art class, a fellow student was very disappointed in the art department and immediately left.....the UM art department is a place where they kinda' smash eggs on the wall and then intellictualize(sp) it. Then again some deptments like forestry are to be respected.
