Default Stevensville MT, Anyone know what it's like there?

I was thinking about moving to Montana, and some one mentioned Stevensville. I hear it's small and peaceful. Does anyone have any input that could prove to be helpful. If so, I'd appreciate it.

They sure do build some beautiful rifles up there! I've been thrilled with the one that I bought from the boys at Cooper.

Rifles? Do they build them in Stevensville? Are they pricey? Do they build them on Remington actions?

Yes, Cooper rifles are made in Stevensville, MT. They build their own actions, so definitely not based on anything Remington. Pricey is a pretty subjective term, so I'll just say that they're not cheap (figure $1,200 and up). With that said, I challenge anyone to find a better value out there. Cooper has an average waiting list of 6+ months for new orders, which speaks volumes about their rifles.

Is Stevensville mostly a bedroom community of Missoula?

I'm not sure if bedroom community is the right term for Stevensville. It could be considered that I guess. There isn't really enough mass employment in Missoula to really have a Bedroom community nearby. I think of a bedroom community as a place where blue collar workers live as a more affordable alternative to living in the larger industrial town where the jobs are and the housing is too expensive for most of the workers to live. Sure some folks live in "Stevi" as the residents like to call it, and commute to Missoula but not on a massive scale. I think that much of the Stevi population is retired, or very wealthy and don't need to work (the valleys newer large Mcmansions), or are lower service industry workers who live and work right in Stevi. It is not a large town though. The town only has about 2000 residents and encompasses only about 1/2 square mile.

So 8SNAKE what part of Montana do you live in, and what's it like around there? Big, small, average size town? I'm not sure if I can actually live someplace too quiet and remote as I have spent the last 40 years living in Las Vegas, Nevada. Now don't go holding that against me, I hate Californians probably more than you people do. Them tree-huggers got a no smoking ban going on in Vegas has everyone except them up in arms. They're always trying to change things, those dumba**'s.

Now I've met a few guys here from Montana, and they tell me I'm not cut out for it, what do you think they meant? I like a few drinks, and pleasant conversation with the local ladies. Is that the problem, you don't have many available women up there? I don't want to change a damn thing where I move to or there is no sense in leaving here. I'm just looking for a peaceful place with no troubles is all. No Traffic Issues, or overcrowded communities. Thanx for letting me bend your ear.

The Hunting Shack Ammunition is also based in Stevensville

Stevensville is literally the birthplace of Montana. Lots and lots of firsts occurred there.
