Default But, no pics of the dying inbred-town of Deer Lodge.

15 businesses (incl 9 casinos) sell booze in D.L. (pop of 3100), where the State Prison, & a dying timber products Mill, are the two main employers --- thus the demographics reflect a sad reality. Most of D.L.'s dying Main Street (along a 4-lane State Highway) is for sale. At one new casino, huge tacky fake multicolored palm trees temporarily (under court order to remove said) pollute the D.L. Valley's beautiful Montana scenery of snow-capped & big-game-laden mountains on both sides, trout-river running through the town & Valley, & the wonderful surrounding ranch & farm land. Will 100-foot-high pink flamingos be tried next at the casino? Desperation, ignorance, & human misery rule "Dead Lodge", & thus make it a target for the garbage of the world. A few large bar/casino owners continue to hold the town hostage while sucking the economic blood out of the town (while paying minimum wages), & thus add greatly to the varied & vast sociological problems plaguing that inbred town. The town's politicians are beholden to their powerful employers, thus vote accordingly, & the town sadly continues to atrophy.

(Round sign in the middle looks like it says Salish-Kootenai something.)
Looks like an awful lot of taxpayer dollars to cross four lanes of light traffic!
