I thought I remembered the above from one of your previous posts. If you weren't just using poetic license to illustrate a point, you're welcome to run an an extension cord from my house to yours' for your new TV. If we can get Elkhunter to pay for the cord (about 1200 miles worth), I'll pick up the electricity cost. CONGRATS ON YOUR BIG WIN

Considering the context in which I said that, it was likely merely poetic license
Although, I DO have an "interesting" uncle who lives up in the mountains with no electricity other than what he provides himself with his windmill.
Now, I only have to figure out how to get this ultra-fragile television to my apartment without breaking

I'll shoot a tape of my fire place. Then send you the tape. You can plug it in and play it and you'll have a 42" fireplace that looks warm but provides no heat.
Think about it. You won't have to chop wood for it. I've already done that. Just set up the tape for loop back and it'll play over and over again. In a bad snow storm, neighbors will come over and huddle around your TV.

Congrats NYMTman!
Don't be too sure about it not giving off any heat. Plasma and LCD screens actually give off a good bit of heat. Especially plasma.

Yeah the plasma can practically heat my living room, especially at my altitude. Apparently plasmas produce more heat at high altitudes.

From what I've seen, most consume around 4000 watts, but some can be much higher than that. So, yes, some can heat a room quite nicely.
Is this your first HDTV? I just got my two LCD sets hooked up to HD about two months ago. The TV's are awesome, but programming is not good. Not nearly enough stuff recorded/broadcast on HD. And I'm reluctant to jump into the HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray war quite yet. Right now, it looks like the best uses for HDTV's are sports and the big fours over air shows.
