Thinking of moving to Hamilton. The hospital I work at here in Washington is closing (can you believe that?) Have been to Montana a few times hiking, and love the Bitterroot. Hamilton appeals because there is a hospital and I would love to be able to bike or walk to work. Single mom whose kids are grown -although I may have one in tow. Are there apartment or home rentals in town close to the hospital? What is the median rent there? Anyone reading this an ICU/CCU nurse? Thats the job that I will be looking for. My hospital closes in May (sad day- I have worked there since I was 18, now 45- it will be like losing a family) and am planning to make a trip to Hamilton then. Any suggestions, comments, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the website for Marcus Daly Memorial hospital, Welcome to Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital.
It's a great town. I grew up there. The town is small so you can easily ride a bike from any place in town to the hospital. this map will give you an idea of distances, Marcus Daly Home Care loc: Hamilton, MT - Google Maps |

Hamilton and the nearby Corvallis area are beautiful, picture perfect places. I hope you are able to find employment there at the Hospital, I think you will enjoy it that area.

Torrance, I can't help you with your questions about Marcus Daly other than to say it is growing rapidly, and they are currently doing a major addition/renovation. There are tons of retirees moving to the area, so that has to bode well for people in health services.
As far as renting a house, it should be easy. You can expect to find a decent 2 bedroom house for $650-700, and for $900 you can probably get a very nice 3bd/2ba with a great yard and everything. I actually own a rental just a few blocks from the hospital, and the house we are currently in will likely be a rental by then, too. I realize this is my first post (I just found this forum Googling for something else), but I immediately stumbled across this and thought I'd throw in my two cents. Feel free to email me through the forum if you have any other questions about Hamilton or the Bitterroot. |

My husband and I are also thinking of moving to Hamilton, MT. We love it there and have a few family members that live there too. But we are needing a rental place too and work. I am in the clerical administrative field and my husband is looking for construction, warehouse or at the city of Hamilton. Our time frame is by next summer end due to our 8 & 10 year old for school. If anyone can help us we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Okay, this is gonna be a little weird, but I'm a Native Bitterrooter who has been away for nearly 10 years. I am contemplating the idea of returning. I know that it is hard to find apartments and jobs to pay for those apartments, but I don't need much (as long as it is in the Hamilton/Corvallis area). Are there any good sources, other than Cardinal Realty and the Ravalli Republic, to find rentals? Do you know of anyone who is thinking of renting an apartment or small house? Are there any people looking for well mannered roommates? I think I might have the job part locked down, but just need a place to hang my hat.
I don't need information on the amount of "California transplants" or the bitterness of the Bitterroot, I pretty much know what you've all been going through over the last two decades....believe me,,,I KNOW. If it makes you feel a little better about responding, I'll "age" myself by saying that I graduated from the Old Hamilton High in 1991. (Thats right. I'm Old School) |
