Plains
We are considering moving to Plains. Can someone tell us about the area? We will need to rent a 4br home if possible.
We will appreciate all the info anyone can give us about this area.
Thanks,
D&B

I live in Plains and love it. There are properties here available at this time and I would love to help you. Today (Oct 28) it was about 60 high. Fall is here. It is a beautiful area and the people are known to be friendly. Tell me just what you would like to know. I work with rentals.

Also a good plus is our hospital and clinic, quite good for our town. Have you visited Plains?

We bought a home in Plains, incidentally 3-4 bedrooms, just over a year ago. Rented it out until we moved here last June. Will be renting it again soon. We were able to buy a lot in town large enough to build a new house on it as well. I really love the small town, friendly people and the slower lifestyle here. (Moved from Denver) I also love the weather-this area is called the Banana Belt of Montana. Mild winters & summers for Montana norms. Jobs are few and far between, but many advantages for business ops. Really beautiful area. You may email us back for any specific info you might want. merrimontana

Information on Plains, Montana
We plan on relocating to Plains to build a home (we already have a contractor) We are a retired couple.
I need to get as much info about plains as possible--Pictures - maps- (not internet maps or pictures) Does Plains have a Chamber of Commerce close by that I can contact?
Anything anyone of you could do for us would be appreciated.
Thank You
Ben & Viktoria

Plains has one small grocery store, a Napa auto parts, a burger joint and another restaurant, a few bars and community swimming pool. There is a Lolo National Forest ranger station there and a hospital. Plains has a few gas station/convenience stores, a couple of schools and a whole lot of very nice folks. There are also no traffic signals of the red yellow green type in the entire county and Sanders county is 2790 Square miles with only 11,000 people ! You could almost fit a Delaware and a half into this county !

You might be able to rent a dumpy trailer for reasonable rent but things have changed a little bit since the O.P. House loans have tightened up so rentals are more in demand. Any real nice home for rent will probably be kind of expensive. Even here in hot springs I'm not seeing any rentals advertised in the local paper for the first time in years.
I noticed that the two posters who are asking about Plains have no public profiles here and both having only posted once each to ask about Plains, makes me wonder if they are more liberals coming up from California or the coasts. Please understand that many folks in Sanders County are pretty fed up with newcomers already. Remember that Sanders County is a good ol boy haven and is also home to the Militia Of Montana.
Oh by the way Plains is lucky to have a hospital, as lousey as it may be, personally I wouldn't go near it. I'll stick to hospitals that have names starting with "Saint" , Mo betta by far !
