I was just curious because there aren't many "big cities" on the eastern part of the state so I figured anything on the eastern part of the state must be small town and is simply called eastern montana.

Medicine Lake is about as far east as you can get in Montana. You are right, there are not any big cities in this part of the state. It's far enough east in the state that your nearest shopping destinations would be Williston or Minot, ND.

I see. Reason why I asked such question was because if I ever move to the western ND oilfields, I think Medicine Lake might be an option to reside in.

I have heard Medicine Lake RV parks are full. Small towns have few rentals when an oil boom is not in progress, so finding housing might prove difficult. It is common for Montana residents along border to shop in closest Canadian city, in this case, Regina.

Regina is as far as Bismarck to Williston (3.5 hours). Canadian cities are generally more expensive that U.S. cities. I think.
