Believe it or not but you can't actually take/hunt rattlesnakes in AZ. Tht's what happens when you let Californians in.

It cooled off today, only 101 or so.

I heard they are actually getting black bear reports in Phoenix suburbs occasionally. Crazy.

45 Degrees here this morning.
After all that rain last weekend, there was actually dew on the windshield this morning! Haven't seen that since May!

Headed for the cabin this weekend to get wood. Need about 6-8 cords to make it through the winter which it looks like will be early this year.

Montana doesn't have much humidity either, but the wind chill factor can be rough when you have a 30 MPH wind at -20 or -30.

It's kind of funny how people adapt to whereever they land. The cold is annoying, but no big deal to me, but when the mercury climbs over 80, I can't do anything because the heat is so oppressive.

Fall is best here. The nights get down into the 30's and 40's, the days in the 60's - 70's. You can breathe again

Every time I see the title about mild winters, it reminds me of when we built the coal mine in Decker Montana. Due to contract requirements we had a weather station and had to record conditions every few hours. We recorded -58. Not wind chill, but just plain bone cracking 58 degrees below zero. At the time, highway maintenance between Sheridan and Decker was null and void so we often rode our snowmobiles, 19 miles to work because the highway was not passable. Mild winters was the furthest thing from our minds. haha

Bah, that's just barely getting cold. During the record winter of '68-'69, one of the radio stations in Great Falls recorded -72 (before wind chill) at their weather station north of town. Official low wasn't near that cold, but we'd kinda learned to trust the radio station.

I walked to school that morning. I'm fairly sure the cold warped the sidewalks, so it really was uphill both ways!
