I have really looked at Kalispell and it is beautiful. It was my other choice aside Missoula, I am not a hipster or really anything. I have managed to find work in Mississippi my whole life and can run on little to nothing. Just wanted to pack up me and my dog and try somewhere new. I can cook, tend bar, do custom carpentry, or whatever else need be done. Not wanting to come change a place, wouldn't see the point in it. When it boils down to it I really hate tornado's and 100 degree weather, neither happen in that area. And politically I am a live and let live kind of guy(Libertarian). Love to fish and shoot, beer and music, and the outdoors. Not to mention in my experience country people are pretty damn decent no matter where your dirt road leads. And I have never met any one who didn't like a seared red eye ribeye with southern cheese grits. I am coming soon and hope I find a place I want to stay a spell. And as always thanks for the conversation, hope I get a chance to run into a few of y'all!

Carry a survival kit if you plan on traveling at all with extra clothes, a sleeping bag rated to at least 0 degrees, some food, a signal kit, a shovel and some sand or kitty litter, water, a large tin coffee can, a candle and some matches, (not a lighter as butane needs to be warm to vaporize and work).

The candle can help keep you warm and melt snow if you need for water, or the can could be used to take care of bodily functions if you are stuck for very long. Always tell someone where you're going and when you expect to be there, just in case...
Absolute best advice I've ever read on City-Data. I'd like to add that if you have an Amateur Radio License, it would be a good idea to take along your handheld transceiver, (cellular coverage can be spotty in the hinterlands).

Volosong you are correct for sure and that is exactly why I pursed the Ham radio angle. I have been known to get into some back country areas without cell coverage and need some form of communication.
But repeaters are not every where I discovered during the beginning, Luckily when I sat and took my tech license I also took my General and passed them both.
This allowed me to go the HF route and not always depend on repeaters. So of course that all snowballed with radio and antennas in truck. Then a base station and more antennas at the house.
