Deer Lodge weather, economics? (place to live, moving to, deal)

We are thinking about moving to Deer Lodge,MT. We are from small town northern WI. We are used to 3 feet or more of snow and 30 below wind chills. Also the economy here is pretty bad. Make less than 40k a year working 3+ jobs between us. Is the weather and economy any worse in Deer Lodge? I hear lots of negatives on this forum. Just wanted to see what else i can hear.

Deer Lodge is in a really dry valley, so you won't have three feet of snow on the ground... but a -30 wind chill isn't a big deal there. And the economy around there is pretty bad too, IMO.

Not really my favorite town, although it's not a bad place to live either, if you can find employment.

Isn't the prison there the biggest employer?
