Looking to take this highway several times a year, including winter, from Helena to West Glacier and back. I have family that takes route from time to time and it sounds like a grind. Wondering specifically how the highway is managed during the winter months. I'm used to driving in snow ands icy roads, but anything else I can gather would certainly help. Thanks in advance for the replies.

On my map, MT-83 only goes from Clearwater Junction to Evergreen. It does not get anywhere near West Glacier (that's U.S. 2), nor does it go to Helena.
You can take U.S. 12 from Helena to Avon, then MT-141 from Avon to MT-200, then 200 to Clearwater Junction, then 83 to MT-206, then 206 to U.S. 2 at Columbia Heights, then 2 to West Glacier.
MT-83 through the Swan Valley is pretty well maintained in the winter, as is MT-200. I haven't driven 141 in years, so I don't know what it is like. IIRC, it is many miles of nothing.
Personally, while it may be the long way around, I would go up I-15 to Shelby then take U.S. 2 to West Glacier.
Or, you could drop off the Interstate at Exit 228 and take U.S. 287 to Augusta and Choteau, then take U.S. 89 to Browning, then 2 over Marias Pass to West Glacier.
Drive carefully, especially in winter.

Thank you for the reply, Redraven. I should have been more clear in my original post.

Let me clarify my desired route:

I would be taking 141 N to MT 200 W to MT 83 N to MT 35 W.

Regardless, thanks for sharing your insight.
