Wink a piece of heaven

My grandparents lived in Lincoln in the late 60's early 70's. They loved it!! I fell in love with it the first time I visited them. My classmate taught school there in the one room school. Lincoln is very small (or at least it was before the unibomber settled there) and conservative. If you want symplicity and peace, Lincoln would be a good place to live. Keep in mind, everyone will know everybodies business, but that's just the nature of a small town.

[quote=Timberwolf232;2591065]Liberal? Why is it so hard to stay in Boulder? You live in an area with people like you in it already. Colorado used to be a great place until the liberals and Californian's came in. (OK the telecom boom in the 80's and 90's didn't help either.)

What happened back then in Colorado? Land prices skyrocketed, working people were forced to move and accept less then they deserved to sell their homes and land, and the developers, lawyers, and franchisers had a hay day. (or decade) Say goodbye to mom and pop shops and say hello to Wal-Mart and big chain stores. A really great place was almost completely ruined. (Unless you were rich enough to buy some land or lucky enough to have a family inheritance.)

This same trend is starting in Montana, and it makes most of us sick to our stomachs.

I grew up in Colorado, and my Wife and Son were born and raised in Montana. When I came up this way years ago I finally I thought I had found a good place, but lately (the last 10-15 years) here come the liberals and they want to make sure that every one else knows it.

Please don't move to Montana. (I'm not trying to be rude, just being honest.) Nobody cares what your political views are, and we are really tired of people moving in and trying to change everything. We don't care if you think we should be allowed to hunt, fish, ride horses, snowmobile or anything else. We don't want or need your money or your rules, and we definitely don't want your opinions about how we should live our lives.

However, if you are willing to put aside your politics and do some good old fashioned hard work, then you just might make it. If you can do that well you might even make some good friends.

Sorry if my rant went on, but I'm passionate about my home, and the quality of life for my family. I'm tired of people moving in putting on a friendly face and then raping the land and the people in it for money.[/quote

Amen too bad the same thing is happening in my great state of idaho. Idaho is moving in the wrong direction i just think we are just moving that way a little slower. Boise is a prime example long time locals are being forced out. My tax assessment literally went up 175000 between my house and the 3/4 acre lot next to me. I dont even live in the city. we are in the mountains 25 miles northeast of boise.

If you can adapt to your surroundings, welcome.
If you can not adapt, but would like to push your agenda onto your new neighbors, best stay away. This is not just Lincoln, it is State-wide. We have had enough of out-of-staters buying up land, putting up "NOtrespassing, hunting, fishing" signs, and trying to take over the local and state governments. Please, blend in, or stay out.

Default Stay where you are

You know I just don't understand..........you've created a sh_t hole where you live and now you don't like it!!!!!!!!!!!!! So now you want to move to a nice place where everyone is happy and gets along...........then you will start to want to change things........to that which you just left...........I just don't get it..........you pass laws, vote for more taxes for social programs so you get a lot of folks that don't give a damn about anything except for your handout.........you end up with ghettos, thieves, killers and then don't like it.............well stay where you are.........The painted sign on the draft beer taps at the Bootlegger says it all........(Tree Huggers Suck)........that bout sums it up...........leave us alone we are pretty happy the way we are without any folks wanting to change things. put some bars on your windows there in Colorado, pay all those taxes for social programs, for all the folks that don't want to work, keep the phone number for the police handy........so that they may be able to help you.......if you can find one that doesn't mind getting sued for doing what he gets paid to do......but doesn't dare because the aclu or ncaap will sue him when he does.......oohhhhhh and may God help you because you probably don't have a gun to protect yourself.........because you don't like them......or anyone else having one..........and now the low lifes don't fear anything and they take anything they want...........Soooooooooo just stay where you are..........you won't like us anyway.......and we sure don't like folks trying to change the way we live.

Anyway.........Wheeeeeeeeeew, I just don understand.

I live in Lincoln. Clint, the Flemings are one of the nicest families in the world. Every one of my kids have gone through 2nd grade with "Ms. J". Sadly, drugs have become the popular activity with the kids. I feel that if someone wants to move to this town in particular, be prepared. Most folks here are set in thier ways, firm on their beliefs and outspoken. If you don't like hunting, fishing, guns, horses, bars or cliques, research somewhere else. Don't even think about moving here and trying to change Lincoln into the "new" Whitefish. It just isn't going to happen. People who move in and try to convince Lincolnites that your liberal ideas are the new "right" don't seem to make it more than a year. Does your wife know about our snowpack? We don't melt off as quickly as Colorado. There will probably be snowmobiles here until late June. During Fall, expect every truck parked downtown to contain at least one dead critter if not two. Lincoln is a poor town. Most folks struggle just to make it through the year. One thing for sure is that during the presidential race, I saw ONE sign for Obama compared to about 100 for McCain. Lincoln is a conservative Republican community.
