I am a gold miner at heart and have claims in Alaska that I mine but my wife doesn't want to live there. So we've been lookin at Lincoln as a possibility...not exactly in town but out near Stemple Pass.
Anyway my wife is concerned about "conservative provincialism" that she suspects she'll have to deal with in a small town like Lincoln. What I would like is to hear from some of you local folks on your ideas of the acceptance or intolerance of those with a more "liberal" political and social persuasion. Is there a good old western "live and let live" mentality or will we find it difficult to "fit in"? Thanks much for your input.
You might do well to look just a bit further west, like maybe Kalispell or Hamilton.

Hey now ... We only come up from Great Falls to play ...

My personal choice for relocation out of Great Falls would be White Sulphur Springs ... that is ... when I retire.

Hello to the OP
Do you have more questions
We have gotten a little bit off the track, in fact I think we may be stuck in the gumbo.....

BTW I am not a native to Montana
Yes we own guns
No we did not intend to change anything.
No we did not ride into town with moneybags, its already gone to two universities.
DH and I came with work skills, contribute to the economy, shop local and yada yada
I love the independent spirit of Montana and the hardworking people. As they say, if I can make it there....

Default Thinkin' Bout Lincoln.

We've been thinkin' bout Lincoln too. Pretty pricey. Lots of snow.
The person who started this thread has not posted on CityData Forums for about three years now.
Yea we've been thinkin bout Lincoln and how rotten the store there smelled when we were there and yes the uni-bomber's cabin is up for auction by the feds. I don't think it's in Lincoln anymore, I thought it was moved to a government warehouse or something.

Well, Mt7, I sure know where I belong--MONTANA!! Although I lived in CA at one time and FL at the present time, I just don't fit in--too conservative!! For those that desire to move to MT, please don't work at changing the state. There are those of us that want to move to MT and live out our days and we want MT to remain MT (which is precisely the reason for moving there).
If I want CA, MD or FL or front range CO (previous homes), I'll move (or remain) in that particular state. I lived in the "Springs" for a short time, and the entire front range (through Denver to Boulder and Ft Collins) was gradually becoming much too "left of center" for this guy. I have wondered if the western slope would be in the same condition (Montrose, etc). I don't want MT to become CO, DC suburbs, FL , and definitely NOT CA!!! I'm still praying to move ASAP!!
