Back to Helena
Hi,
I´m Manuel from Spain, I´m 36. I lived there in 1990-91 like an exchange student. Lived in Corbin and studied in Boulder at Jefferson High school. I fell in love with your country, great people, the landscape, the forest, wildlife,.....everything was perfect. Many years has passed from that, now I´m married, I have two daugthers of 3 and 6 years. I´m thinking about moving there with them, looking for a nice and unstressing life. I have been working as a "window maker" for 13 years. If anybody can help me on how to get there (job, house,....), i would apreciate it. I don´t know how to do it.
Thanks to all.
Manuel.

I have been reading several posts and I can see that people in Montana is afraid of people going to live there. I think you are right, you have too much to loose your great forests, wildlife, quietness, ..... But not everybody is the same. I live in Spain, and this is changing for bad too. Too much freedom is changing the country but for bad. I don´t feel comfortable here, friendship, comunitie, neigbourghood,...... are words that don´t exist any more here. People just look for themshelves, nobody cares about the others. I don´t want this future for my doughters, neither for my self. I just want a simple live but true live. I want a job for living not living for working, I must show my dougthers the true friendship, the good values, the way of life I saw when I studied there, the one that make me fall in love of Helena. Is this a bad reason for going there? I will give my life for giving my doughters a chance. It is not too late for changing their future. They have 3 and 6 years, they still can learn a lot from your way of life.
Thanks for hearing me.

hey manuel, people from montana are welcoming despite what you read here. they are just looking out for their own, and not saying "don't come out here". if you love the outdoors, hunting, and are not into politics you will be a welcome neighbor. as for spanish people, i have met some in bozeman, billings, and missoula. i don't know about helena though. most of the spanish speakers here are mexican or central american, and you can find them anywhere in the state working construction or on ranches. but as for spanish people, i guess they gravitate toward liberal, and larger towns, or resort communities. what info do you need specifically? do you have any money to buy a house, or will you rent? you could probably start your own business as a glassier, or just work for one in town. it is in high demand and pays about twice the living wage in gallatin county ($20/hr), so you will live comfortably. if you were moving to bozeman, i could look into it for you, but i don't know about this kind of work elsewhere in montana. mike.
