Well, my husband will have a second phone interview next week, so things are looking up! Thanks everyone for your input.

Kim,

You can own property on the Flathead Reservation. I owned a house there for 7 years. It is one of the few Indian reservations that allow ownership in fee simple.

You can own property because this rez was opened to homesteading in 1912 or so. You will be able to buy from a non-tribal member but probably not from a tribal member (tribe has to ok - and that isn't happening). I think most of individual ownership is non-tribal. Jore Corp was started by Rick Jore's brother Matt (I think that was the brother) and run by him. I don't think Rick had a big ownership percentage and was not in the management (at least not on paper). If you reviewed f/s you would see everything was financed on credit and loans - hard to make it that way. Seems to be stable since the big bankruptcy and buy out --- just a lot smaller (at one time they employed 1200 - biggest employer in county).
