Am thinking of getting back on a 2-year contract. Currently with Verizon in another state and Verizon's cell coverage has a reputation of being best. Is that the case in the Kalispell area or do other providers cover better?

Define "Kalispell area?
Do you mean within a few miles of town? Then, yes, Verizon is probably the best.
Do you mean around Hungry Horse reservoir, or up the North Fork, or in Glacier National Park?
If so, coverage is spotty at best, non-existent at worst. If you can make or receive a call in those areas, DO NOT MOVE! In just a few feet you could lose the call!

Verizon is the best in Kalispell- and I use the term best very loosely. its also a lot more expensive here than what you might be used to.

Both Verizon and AT&T have pretty similar coverage up here. My phone uses the AT&T network and I've had good coverage all over the valley.

A bit aside, but don't get on a 2 year contract with AT&T or Verizon, you can get month to month plans using the same Verizon or AT&T networks for far less. I use Cricket Wireless (they use the AT&T towers) and get unlimited text, talk and data (2.5GB at 4G LTE speeds, then throttled to 3G but still unlimited after that) for $35 a month (that $35 includes all taxes, fees, etc). Verizon has similar brands that run on their network for $30 or $40 a month depending on the particular plan.

If you like to overpay, stick with AT&T or Verizon and be on a 2 year contract. If you want the exact same coverage for less, do some googling, or check out someone like Clark Howard and his cell phone plan guide.
