Fishing!
Oh yea, I love fishing - just haven't gone out and found anywhere around here yet! Promised my daughter I'd get here out one of these days. Got a flyrod and gear last year too but unfortunately it's getting dusty...
Do you go to the reservoirs, rivers, or where?

We will be moving there Memorial Day weekend and expect to get there the Tues or Wed after memorial Day. I just mailed the closing papers for our house yesterday so that's one more thing down. Now we are just trying to get rid of as much as possible so we don't have so much to move. We have to get it all in one trip since it is about 1900 miles one way.
Rickers,
I can't wait to come visit your store. my husband and i were just talking about getting kayaks once we get there!

Gman, a few days ago my wife and I went to visit Gibson Reservoir and It still had ice. however Pishkun and Willow Creek Reservoirs were clear of ice. I fished the sun river just below the Diversion Lake but I skunked out ! A day later I went to the Craig to Cascade section of the Missouri river and also skunked but I did see a Blue Sucker hanging right off the riverbank about two feet in front of me. It was very thin, sluggish and had a huge white tumor on its back. I can't wait to float that section with my Cobra sit on top fishing kayak. The fly fishers are hooking up to big Rainbows as we speak !
Melindar, we'll see ya when ya get here ! Please let me know if you need any help schlepping the boxes from the van to the house, I have two of those 2 wheel hand trucks and am happy to help out. Our email is kitchencrk@3rivers.net and welcome to Conrad !

Moving to Conrad
Howdy, I am looking to buy a nice little house in Conrad and relocating my family there from Georgia. What are the schools like, and are the realtors honest there? Because the ones near Florida will try to swindle you. Should I be weary of commuting to Great Falls, I understand its like an hour drive. I used to live in Texas, and I cant afford the homes there because of all the dang golf courses they put up around my home town. All I want is the small town rural atmosphere where the High School Football, and wrestling are the biggest things to happen on a Friday night. PTSD and living in the Big City is a bad combination!

Separations
High again, I am probaly going to move my wife and kids up to Conrad before I do, I have to wait for my DD214. I want to get them up there before the School season starts, so I will be here in Georgia for four months. I was wondering if there are little groups or relocation specialists that could possibley assist my wife in finding places to go or even somethings to do while I am gone.

A lot of retired military and cops move up here to get away from the crowds, seems to work pretty well. What I've noticed up here is you're left alone if you want, it's up to you...

bcwatson- I had a very hard time finding info for Conrad. I used Harvest View Realty Moderator cut: please don't post realitor sites. to buy my house and the realtor was really nice and helpful. You can also search trulia.com for houses in Conrad that another realtor lists. But I would highly recommend Harvest View.
As for relocation specialists or groups I haven't found much. I did post on bigskymoms.com and have been contacted by another mom.
Some info that was hard to come by:
Northwestern Energy and City of Conrad for Utilities
Bresnan for cable
3rivers.net for phone, satellite, internet
How old are your children? We have a 3(almost 4)y.o. and a 5 y.o.
Good luck! Conrad seems like a really nice group of people and I am looking forward to our move.

One thing that I like about this area is the eggs, bread, chickens etc that the Hutterites bring into town. We bought some eggs that were way larger than the largest supermarket eggs and we bought a frozen chicken (huge), it took a couple of days to thaw but it was the best chicken I've ever had in my life.
An interesting thing about conrad is that the town siren sounds out a short one at exactly 8:58 P.M. every day. I think that it's to let the youngsters know that it's time to get off the street and head for home. there is a 9:00 P.M. cerfew for the youngsters.

When I lived in Great Falls and Bozeman, the Hutterites supplied eggs for the local Albertsons stores. Always fresh and tasty!!
And if you visit the mod-snipped Harvest View Realty site (thanks, Melinda -- if I wind up looking in that area, you've found my realtor for me!), be sure to check out their link called "Today" -- some of the most hilariously captioned photos of small-town life you'll ever see!!
