Been through this in Oregon, more truth than you can believe in that statement. However over there it was, well I need 20 acres for a 6,000 square foot house with accompanying matching barn, now let me have a farm loss on that so I can write off at tax time.

One thing you might think about, esp if you plan on visiting the rez. Duck lake, it is just out of browning. Never been there myself but I have heard folks rave for years. Again, you will need a tribal permit. As you head west out of browning the scene is stunning with the front rising out
in front of you, and dont forget to take a gander at cheif mountian.
Montana is really the last best place.

Maybe that's part of the problem -- people driving through there pretending not to see the people who live there. That's usually interpreted as "they think they're too good for us" and THAT generates resentment even when it didn't previously exist. And if you stop and call out to someone.. that can come across as "Boy! Get over here!" rather than "Hello".

Maybe next time try a smile and a wave. Yeah, some Indians are still carrying their grandfather's chip on their shoulders, but communication has to start somewhere...
