Default Sheridan, MT and Closed Road Opinion

First of all I would like to say how AMAZING you guys are. I've been reading your posts and have more real info. than I've gathered in a year over the web.
I'm hoping for some more information. My brother has a daughter (2 years old) who recently moved to Montana with her mother. I sometimes play peacemaker when they have trouble communicating but try not to be in the middle. They live in the Bozeman area but are looking into a place in Sheridan. Can anyone give me an idea of what Sheridan is like? I understand it is a pretty small town.
Also...Helena is her preferred airport. My only concern is the drive between Sheridan and Helena in the snow ~ 69 and 15 up to Helena. I guess there is a pass there that is sometimes closed? Typically, how often is this part of the road closed? (we'll fly there and back the same day to pick her up)
Any info. is greatly appreciated!

*I do have to admit that I never had a particular interest in visiting Montana but last summer we drove from Spokane to Missoula and I was amazed. Took a loop from St. Regis ~ 135-200-93 ~ and dropped into Missoula. Absolutely amazing. I look forward to my next visit!

I think you will be going over at least two passes. I wouldn't worry about it unless you are going to be driving durring a storm in the winter. Check with the highway departments for the current road conditions just before you want to leave and make sure you tires are good.
