I dont care what they put it on the market for, what it actually sells for is what matters.
Most of this hatred of outsiders sounds like stereotyping. I'd bet for every 100 new people who move in that maybe 1 or 2 fit the stereotypes.
From what I can gather on this forum, and the wyoming one too, is that most new people are young working class families who want to live better lives than they currently are.
All the rich Californians I know through my work, I am an accountant, may buy a place in Jackson, Deer Valley Utah, or Aspen. And they dont move there, they only use it on some weekends during ski season. These aren't people who would like living elsewhere.

What the house actually sells for is the problem. Most Montanans cannot afford these $350,000 homes but an out of stater with substantially more income can. As I see it, the more out of staters that move in force more montanans to move out.

We are looking at moving to Livingston, Montana early next year. We are doing tons of research, data, demographics, schools, hospitals, cost of living, things to do, employment, etc. We are looking to get away from our 'Big small' town. We live in Western NC. And you are either rich or poor. Middle class doesn't exist (well, we struggle to anyway) i want to get away from the above mentioned entitled kids that are handed everything! My husband is an electrician and is looking at Big Bear electric (good?bad?)Any info, advice, links, etc, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

My husband and I are from Texas and our dream is moving to Montana. When I look at the real estate websites I see all the beautiful land being divided into 1-3 acre plots and it's sad. We won't be able to move up there for sometime and I just hope that there is land left thats not a subdivision.

We all like our hometowns best...I don't care for the look/layout of Helena or Kalispell. Livingston/Bozeman area is great.

Cool My problem with California

The problem I have with California is that Cal. has too many gay people, and also hippies. If it weren't for those two things It would be fine for me. Being a conservative it is also too liberal for me being it's the most liberal state in america if not the world

I lived in montana for 3 years (and now live in Texas my home state) and it has very few people for it's size, the only reason there's probably not much land is cuz either the government ownes a lot or people own large portions and montana is so beautiful they just won't sell it, because montana has less than 1 million and is the 4th largest state in the U.S. It's not as rural as Wyoming though! Anyway it's an AWSOME place and I loved it but my dad moved for his job, and came back to Texas(he couldn't handle the yankees) lol. But he moved to South Texas so he got a double dose of yankees and we are white so we have to deal with racism here. But anyway montana's a GREAT place with wonderful summers. Good luck at y'all findin' large acerage. It's just so expensive though. And by the way I lived in Columbia Falls (great place) and close to Glacier National park. One of the best looking places in Montana too me. It's always good to see southerners populating the north if they stay southern cuz one day I plan on living in Montana and would like to see some more Texans there.
