I moved here to help care for my aging father and to provide my daughter with a safe place to grow up. We spent every cent we had moving here, we are broke.

No one will give me a job, why? "Oh, you're from CA", and "You'll never survive the winter". Yes I'm from CA, and I did survive the winter, even without the heater working in my truck. Oh, and I did have to drive in blizzard conditions. It only got cold here a couple of times.

No my street is never plowed, didn't expect it to be done, I live on a side street.

We make less than $30,000 a year. We can not afford to buy property or a home.

I find most people pleasant, but gave up trying to make friends here, because I'm from CA and an outcast.

I don't miss CA, but I think moving to MT was a mistake.

I'm thinking about moving to MT from CA. I'm concerned about finding work though. Where did you live in CA? That's wonderful that you moved there to care for your aging father.
It was the same way when I moved from CA to ID, they hated CA people, but after about a year & they got to know me as a person, I had some of the best friends I have ever had. They had one idea of CA people & it was bad!
Best of luck to you. I hope you find a job soon.

There are definitely good ones that move here from out there, but unfortunately there really are a lot of the type that give a bad name to the rest.

JoeMama2009 will become famous soon enoughJoeMama2009 will become famous soon enough
I went with my girlfriend last summer '08 to announce her pregnancy. I found the Helena locals to be A LOT more friendly than Alaskans! I felt free, nobody cared that I had a felony, bad credit, or had been homeless for three years. People even respected the fact that I didn't drink alcohol, but smoked pot and got everybody stoned.

There was a kid from Texas they didn't like. The kid asked why and they said because Bush was from Texas - well whatever, Ron Paul is from Texas and so is Alex Jones ( http://www.infowars.com ).

I might move there (or tax haven South Dakota) and start a Web design firm. I wouldn't be taking some local's 8.00 an hour job, but might employ an accountant for 40k a year and Web pros (I'm sure some local can do XHTML, CSS, PHP, PERL, XML,Apache, Tomcat, Flex, Photoshop.... and is desperately looking for work and thinking about leaving Montana).

To add, I'm not an Obamanation bot who drinks the kool aid and praises Socialist idealogy and gun control. I would vote for Stan Jones (L), Bob Barr or Ron Paul. I am in the process of burning hundreds of 'Obama Deception' DVDs to hand out to the public in Liberal Socialist BIG GOV Washington State. I already sent a few to relatives in Helena who don't have the Internet up in the mountains.

What alarmed me about Helena though. I was watching a debate on YouTube (might have been the Helena IR Website) between Stan Jones, a Democrat, and a Republican for Governor. The room and outside parking lot was filled with Obama crap. Is this what you mean when you say you don't like outsiders? I feel you brothers and sisters!

Everybody from everywhere have totally screwed WA state. We used to have limited GOV, conservatives, and safe neighborhoods. I used to be able to shot a gun in my backyard and pee in the front yard, but not anymore...now we have gangs, Mexican drug cartels, Real Estate cartels jacking the prices up on a house that really cost 20k to build selling for 279,000, and police of every stripe everywhere and red light cameras!!!!

I spend a lot of time in both places, and I totally agree. Alaskans are not known for being very friendly. Most Alaskans will be the first to admit this.

AQHA: They were happy, they had a new baby coming to the family! They treated me like gold. Most of the adults smoked pot. I hated Alaska, but loved the fact that I always had work and the landscape, flora, fauna, bike riding, thousands of miles of hiking trails. What didn't I like about Alaska? This: you meet somebody and they ask in the first paragraph, "Where you from? Where were you born? What do you do for work? Why don't you have a car? Do you rent or own your own home?"

I would usually answer with, "Do you care?"

Anyways I sent these DVDs to family in Helena:

YouTube - The Obama Deception HQ Full length version

and

YouTube - Alex Jones' ENDGAME - Trailer

AQHA: you and everybody can see my pictures on MyCrack . I'm raising funds for hosting my own Website. I had a six Websites, but one site got popular and the Web host wanted to charge me 20.00 a month and I told them they could kiss my azz. In turn they banned my account, so I need to start over.

In Alaska everyone is a transplant, so people figure its okay to ask others where they come from. Normally people are just making conversation but you're right, its annoying. I will be back home in Montana in a couple weeks, I am counting the days.

The first bad move a person moving to MT makes is... "Let me tell you how we do it here..."
