Have I got info for you! What exactly would you like to know? I was born near there, in the ghost town of Gold Coin, my grandfather built the original Denton's Point on Georgetown Lake. I have five generations of family buried in the cemetery (and I'm 60!). It's an interesting town with lots of history. Many of the town's buildings were originally up in Granite, the old ghost town up the hill. But when the silver market went bust in the late 1800s, folks rolled some of the buildings down the mountain and developed P-burg, which until then was a feed spot for a few ranchers. My great-grandfather had a ranch out on Willow Creek (pronounced by native's as 'crick') next to Gary Cooper's place.
I would wager that I know more history and have more old photo's of P-burg than most of the people there, since most of them arrived in the past 10 years. Even those who've been there awhile have only been there for 30-40 years.
When you get there, contact Barry Carnahan. I think he was elected to a County seat. He's a VERY tall character with a lot of knowledge. He also makes wonderful furniture and restored most of the buildings in the town's historic district. The theatre is interesting. You used to be able to hear ghosts singing in there. Probably just Lily Langtry. You want to check out George at the little gift shop at the east end of town. He built a restored ghost town out in Princetown near Maxville that is made up of all the bulidings that he retrieved from various public lands and re-erected plus put in everyday antiques to make it like stepping back in time. The Candy Factory/Sapphire Gallery are great too. Those folks have been around for the past 20 years. The folks who run the Sunshine station have great food, but although they may talk like they've been around forever, they've only been there for 15 years. If David english is still around, he's a good bet for knowledge.
There's a lot of gold and gem hunting to be had around there, great fishing and hunting, growing season's almost nonexistant except for certain perrenials, winters can get cold AND windy, with wind-chill around 90 below. The Flint Creek Valley Days in July is four days of good, old-fashioned fun. There's a little honey factory in Hall that has the best honey.
I probably have much more history and places, but I don't want to boor you to death.
Hope you have a great time!
