Amen to the cold winters (and bad roads). I don't think the size of towns is why people don't live in Paradise Valley, it's the cold, brutal winters. I've personally experienced 32 below zero (without wind chill) and that's cold no two ways about it. Paradise Valley will get more wind, too, and drop the temperature (with wind chill) to -50 or -60. You'll need a good heating system for your house, reliable transportation, and good winter driving skills.

In all honesty, it's not practical to commute from the outlying towns to Livingston for work for any length of time. Fifteen miles may not seem long in the city but much beyond that is tough and not very practical in Paradise Valley (in my opinion). You may do it for a year or two but I wouldn't imagine much longer than that....
