FWIW:....A friend of mine who has frequent contact with an employe of the AZ Fish and Wildlife Dept, sent me an email that documents a recent incident of an 18 pound BOBCAT attacking an 80 pound German Shepard and then biting the dog's owner on the hand when he tried to separate them. This occurred in a residential neighborhood in a bedroom community north of Phoenix.

The BOBCAT was killed and subsequent testing revealed it was Rabid.

Coincidentally, in January of 2010, I was standing in the front door area of the house I was renting, (30 feet from the street) in a densely populated neighborhood in Oro Valley,AZ, just north of Tucson, at ten a.m. in the morning, with my Brittany on a leash, when I was shocked to see a large BOBCAT trotting down the middle of the street not 45 feet right in front of me. It was much larger than Bobcats I have seen in the wild here in MT. It never broke stride, just kept heading toward an aroyyo about 250 yards further down the dead end street. I would estimate it was approx 20 inches high at the shoulder and weighed maybe 25 to 30 pounds.
Glad I had my dog on a leash.

Yikes, Griz. I hope the GSD was vaccinated and both he and his owner do OK.

The moral is, never fight a Bobcat -- even if you're a Griz!

The cat got off lucky. He would have been just a throw rug after Griz got through with him.

Griz is so tough that his bearskin rug is a live bear.

He’s just afraid to move!

No moral of the story is , humans should not have to coexist with beasts like bobcats or cougars ( although i do like both the machine and the lady namesake)
