Default A friend I have on the road...

...is thinking of moving to Montana. Nature lover, landscaper, blue collar, salt-of-the-earth, day labor type. Inspired by the book A Walk Across America. Caucasian male, originally from Florida. Can anyone offer advice on what areas he could find work and a reasonable small room to rent (i.e., typical prices for a single person and small room)? I hope this isn't too vague, but I'm trying to gather some scoop for him. Thanks in advance, Carl

Billings has a low unemployment rate and there are always lots of blue collar type jobs around. There is quite a bit of construction still going on around town if he is into that type of work. I know there are some downtown places above the storefronts that have rooms for rent but I don't know how much they charge. I wouldn't think it would be very expensive. It might be a place to start if he doesn't mind living in that part of town where some of the "transient" type people are. I'm not saying it's bad, we don't have a lot of problems, but some people wouldn't want to live right downtown. There are also some small apartments about town that are very reasonable for a single person. Take a look at the website for The Billings Gazette and you'll see some listed under rentals. Hope this helps!
