Default Gay Friendly??

My girlfriend and I are thinking about moving to Montana, but on the skeptical side, being that we don't know if Montana is gay friendly. I noticed there's Pride, however that doesn't mean our child won't get harrassed. Any help??

Not gay myself but we do have two gay couple friends (1 female couple, 1 male couple), they love Montana. As for the kids I don't know as neither of them have kids.

If your not the type to push your lifestyle down other peoples throats, I'm sure you could get along ok.

I'd suggest visiting and getting a feel for yourselves.

Thank you so much for your input! We'll have to take a trip up there in the summer time and check it out. We're pretty excited about it!

You'll like it. Montana folks are normally pretty open minded and stay out of other peoples affairs.

I'm not a person who particularly likes the way this country is changing, but the one change that I like very much is that Americans as a group have become a lot more aware of, and open to, alternative lifestyles. I guess its about time.

I'd have to say it depends on where you go. If you go to a real small place like say, paradise then I'd bet they'd be less tolorent. Like everywhere else you'll find bigots and zealots but like the poster above said most try to MYOB here.
If you stick to places like most of the flathead, missoula, bozeman or places like that then I'd bet not many would care. I'm guessing from your post that it's you that's gay and not your child? If that's the case I doubt your child would face much if any probelms to be honest.

I have found, in general, that no matter what you live, if youre gay, bi or whatever.... as long as you mind your P's and Q's.. and don't shove your lifestyle down anyones throat.. you'll do fine. Get your job done, mind your home and people will respect that.

The only time I've ever heard of a gay/lesbian person or couple having issues is when they wer eoff the activist, loud/proud type person/people.

I have a gay friend in Bozeman, great guy. He's noticed that the gay community is mostly very subtle and calm about who they are, comparatively to say, Capitol Hill in Seattle.

Most people in Montana are content to hold the door open for whoever walks in, and beyond that they really try to stay out of people's business. Not to say you should change who you are or how you act, but while I think people are for the most part accepting of gays, I think that its truly mostly because they can keep themselves ignorant. You can tell someone you're gay, but until they actually SEE you kissing your girlfriend, etc, it doesn't really go home for them.

I think I'm mostly rambling, but while I agree with the fact that you have to mind your own business, I think that sadly, we're still in a time and place that you need to be cautious.

Edit: In Seattle, the group that supports gay rights, is the GSA, or Gay-Straight Alliance.
Out in Bozeman, the leader calls it the *****-Straight Alliance. And I'll be honest, I don't like him very much.
Editx2, apparently I get censored for that word. Well, its 5 letters and has a similar meaning.
