Another GREAT place to look for you home is in the South Hills or any many locations on the south side of the city. I love the homes back there and am planning a business for the Nob Hill area. It will be a great place for growth in the coming years!

Oh, it makes me so sad to come back into this forum. My husband, daughter and I were ALL ready to move to Helena, and VERY excited for it as well. We had a move date, June 15th, a brand new house to move into, and my husband even had a new job. What happened? Well, the market here in Oregon went ka-put and our house that was supposed to close, didn't. Yep, two days before our close date, the deal fell through. So, here we are, still in Oregon, with our hearts in Helena.
Someday we will make it....someday. |

![]() ![]() Oh wow, sorry to hear that. I think the market is taking a dump almost everywhere. I know it is in California, and has been for almost a year now. When we were in ID last week, there is a lot of inventory on the market there too. Try to look at the bright side, the market will likely drop in MT as well, and make another home purchase cheaper. Good luck to you guys. |

Sorry to hear that Oregon. Housing does seem to have slowed a little here like it has all over the country, but the market in general is still very strong. There's a lot of commercial growth and things are still booming for the most part. Summit will probably keep growing too, so maybe your hubby will still be able to land a job.

Houses are still selling but it seems like every where else folks are having to drop prices for a speedy sale. I'm having a tough time selling my house here on the west side and am chomping at the bit to move to helena or nearby.
Can't wait to eat at Emiliano's yummmmmm ! |

Speaking of Helena, does anyone remember the name of the great family-style Chinese restaurant that was out kinda by itself, I think over on the east side..?? Is it still there?
Also, does anyone know what became of Avalanche Kennels after Eddie Barbeau passed away? I loved that beautiful old log house they had... (I breed Labradors, and my foundation female came from Kay and Eddie) Last edited by Reziac; 08-14-2007 at 02:40 PM. Reason: stupid forum censors perfectly valid words :( |

There was a Chinese restaurant on Montana called the House of Wong, but Auto Zone is there now. Was the only restaurant my wife and I ever both sent our food back because it was so bad. We still call it House of Wrong. LOL
Jade Garden is @ Montana and Custer and is the BEST! |

The Chinese place I'm thinking of was a standalone building, with split-level floors inside. There wasn't much else in the immediate area at the time (I suppose it's all built up by now). I last ate there about 1983ish. Great food, and the best green tea ever. [goes off, roots around google maps] I suppose it could be the building on the NE corner of Birch and Montana, but I'm thinking there were fewer buildings around it, kindof a truck-bypass type of neighbourhood... no way to be sure at this point! I just didn't spend enough time in Helena to get familiar with the town, and always found stuff by guess and by golly
