Default Montana tax questions?

Was wondering about property taxes on a 100,000 dollar home in eatstern montana. Is there a home owner exemption. State sales tax, personal tax.. Vehicle registration fees for older vehicles... Coming from Idaho in the next few months trying to figure out differences in the economy .......

Contact the county treasurers office in the place you want to live. If you live in the city it's one rate, different in a place zoned for farming for instance and there is no statewide standard. 'Home-owners' exemption, if I understand your question, may be available to you based upon your age (over 65) and income, generely less than $40,000. Like property tax, vehicle taxes vary slightly by county. It all depends on the vehicle's age and how old is old.

My 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser's registration fee in Glacier County, MT is $347.00 per year. That is $300.00 more than what I paid in Jersey.

Yes, but at least you don't have to live in Jersey. Sounds to me like money well spent.
