Woke up to a couple inches in Belgrade. Got cold enough for it to stick to the roads. NWS says a chance of snow most of the week.

Looks like the bowl is getting hit. Usually skirts around Billings but this time it looks like it settled in a bit.

Bozeman pretty much got missed. I think strong winds decreased accumulation. I'd say we got maybe an inch, but again, it's hard to tell because of the wind.

Not enough for any decent snowmobiling... Roads melted off and it's just one of those grey days good for a hike while nobody is out or just lounging around the house... Need a sunny weekend so I can get my boat going! (fishing fever is kicking in...bad)

Yep... Bozeman didn't get much of anything. Great Falls recorded 15" officially, though. The plains just got whacked.

Ok, really confused weather here today... Snowing, thunder, yes I said thunder and I thought some lightning and right at 32. So far it's snowed so hard we couldn't see down the street, melted, snowed and booming, melting....

I have friends in Washington and they had the same thing on Saturday. They had rain, snow, lighting and thunder, and then it hailed so bad they couldn't see across the street. Real funky storm moving through this week.

Good 'ol thunder snow. We've had that a few times in my home town (Omaha, NE). Usual indicates 2-3"s of snowfall an hour.

When I lived in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in Oregon, I saw Thunder snow a handful of times...

I guess when a Low front comes in and brings snow where there is a warm front that's doesn't move out right away it can cause instability in the upper atmosphere which can cause Thunder and Lightening....

It is kind of pretty too I think lol

I haven't seen any thunder snow yet here in Sheridan... but I have heard it on the Montana news a few times happening up near Billings...

Ps. If I messed up on the explanation of thunder snow, hopefully I at least make sense lol I am not good with the Meterologist lingo
