Please send me some milk. It's been almost $4/gallon here in SoCal for some time now, and that's the Costco and Sam's Club price. It hit $6.50/gal. (for the "cheap" brands) in the regular groceries over a year ago.

$6.50/gal for milk?!!! That's enough to make a person buy a cow.. Although it was almost $5.00/gal in town last time I paid attention.

Between Gas, Milk and Groceries I just swipe the debit card and try not to look.

Yeah... til you look at the price of hay ... about $200/ton here! this is a big hay-producing area, but most of it gets shipped out.

Cost me $80 to fill my gas tank this week... and it's only a 19 gallon tank. Cripes, I used to drive clear from Bozeman to Yakima and back for that much. Now it's about Bozeman to Great Falls one way.

People are starting to lose their jobs around here because they can't afford the gas to commute!

well said. If everyone cut back on the items that we are being gouged on i.e. rice, flour, EGGS, and fuel, they would be forced to drop the prices. What would happen if everyone refused to buy gas/diesel for one full day? Oh my! the oil companies wouldn't make a profit that day!! too bad for them. I know we couldn't get everyone to commit to not buying gas on that one day (collectively), but for my family, we are doing what we can to cut back--consolidate trips/errands in the car, ride our bicycle when possible, stay home and bbq, our back yard is just as nice as the park. Oh, and one more thing, I have seen several households around this area plowing up their yards fo plant some garden space. Makes sense to me--you don't have to mow as much and you are providing natural food for your family

I just brought in a load of horse manure (free from the next door neighbor) to till in and plant a garden in our back yard. Took out a couple of trees yesterday and cleared off some grass and off we go. We're putting in Tomatoes, various peppers, corn and squash. Tired of paying through the nose for veggies. Trying to talk my neighbor into raising a cow to split.
We've stopped almost all eating out since we can usually do it way cheaper at home even down to pizza. We made pizza two days ago and it didn't take very long at all even making our own scratch crust...

I'm having no problem passing up some things that are getting ridiculous. Bryers ice cream was almost $8.00 for a half-gallon of my favorite butter pecan in our local store the other day. As much as I love it, I don't need it that bad (well, really, my waistline doesn't need it at all either). Left it on the shelf, and a lot of other things too. We don't buy much soda, but my teenagers want it on the weekends - we are now buying Shasta or the store brand. I'm not buying a six pack of name brand soda pop for the same price as a T-bone steak, there again, they can forget it. Ove $5.00 for a six pack of drinks that are nothing but corn sweetener? Junk food is junk food.

If it helps MTmom we loooove bryers and noticed the price as well. That being said I've found that the stores have been having dueling sales lately where they've been selling it 2 for $6.00 so I buy 4 and that will usually get me through 'till the next sale. I know Super one or Smiths has one going on right now.

We're not a big junk food family either... other than occasional pizza or Chinese. Milk just went down to under 4 bucks at our local grocery, and I can't really remember the last time I've bought more than a single soda. Doing a lot of home cookin', but nothing beats that!! We are looking at raising beef with some friends also. I looked at steaks last week and they wanted 8 bucks a pound! So we cooked up some of last years Elk instead. (better in my opinion anyway.)

This is the last week to put in for special hunting permits in case anyone forgot.
