Rickers
Love your pic of the monster mac. Makes me jelous. Canat tell you how
many hours I spent trying to drag one of those guys from flathead lake.
But alas no such luck. Almost landed a big guy one day, got him to the
back of the boat, when we saw what I had, my grandfather and I got so
excited that
in the ensuing meele and trying to find the net, (since we had just
put the boat in the water), my prize swam away.

Isn't that Mac insane ? Even the tongue would make a meal, and that one isn't even a record breaker. A fisheries guy told me that several years back they dragged a gill net through Flathead Lake to evaluate the fishery and they netted several Macs in the 70 pound range and one that weighed in at a little over 90 pounds. The picture of that fish I posted still blows me away whenever I look at it.

Okay, have to get a bit technical here. There are no buffalo in Montana. We have bison. South America and Asia have buffalo. Just a bit of trivia for ya. lol. I got my students on that one.

Some of our neighbor/friends in the Little Bitterroot Valley just butchered a bison and my wife's best friend participated in exchange for some meat. You should have seen her when it was done. ! She looked so worn out and by the look on her face I could tell she was on the verge of getting sick from the sights and smells that go along with butchering a very large animal. She said it was freakin gross !

You should fix your keyboard... it's missing a few keys !
Since when is it illegal to cut down MY trees if I want ? I need them to keep warm in the winter first off AND second and more important, they need to come down anyway since they are a hazard being full of mistletoe and all. So who is going to fine me and why ???? You need to be clear on this statement as it is very misleading to people wanting to learn about MT !
And what is wrong with a red roof may I ask ?

When I cut some of my trees I made money and improved my land at the same time. There was no reason for any fines. Some one is grossly misinformed here !
What is so bad about red roofs ? I like them.

I know... but my post is a quote from a TV show... IIRC this cop had to hide out in Montana for a while and was not happy about it:
Character A: Montana?! What's in Montana??
Character B: Frostbite and buffalo chips.
So when I saw this thread, I couldn't resist quoting it.

My sis down in Moiese is a little tiny thing, but she lives off the land and does all the butchering for the family (mostly goats, deer, and the occasional cow or elk), AND the grand kids. Over 60, tough as nails, and hardly ever been sick. Amazing woman!
