Apartments in Malta area?
Anyone here familiar with Malta? I'm preparing to relocate there for a year and I'd like to know more about the area.
I'm also looking for a studio or one bedroom to rent. Any comments on local apartments?

I don't think there are any apartments in Malta. There are a few rental houses but I have no idea how you find them.
Do you have a job lined up over there yet? And what is your motivation for wanting to live in Malta?

I already have a job lined up for the next year. Its only a matter of finding a place to live somewhere in the general area.
I have actually found a few apartment complexes, but they're only accepting double occupancy. Right now I'm looking for any other options, since I don't want to buy.

The "rental market" in malta
There are basically 3 sets of apartments in Malta. There is a large complex right by the high school, a medium complex on the east end of town, and some apartments closer to "downtown." I don't think that any of them have studios. I don't think I have ever seen a one bedroom either, as most renters I knew had kids or others living with them.
You have to remember Malta is a very small town with not a lot of transient/outside people. The apartments are mostly occupied by longtime locals with fewer means. You have a better shot of renting a trailer or house than you do of finding a good apartment.
Can it be done? Probably. What would I recommend? Speak to your employer. A local will have the best insight into what exactly is available. They may even know someone with a trailer on their land or a small house that isn't in use. Some employers might even have a house the company/organization owns.

These little old prairie towns often have studio apartments over the businesses in the downtown area, such as it is. I'd ask local business owners. Dunno if there's a trailer court there but smaller/older trailers are often available to rent. Both these options tend to be at the bottom of the price scale, and nothing fancy, but usually very quiet.
