Flood alert posted for NW Montana
So are those folks really expecting major floods or just the rivers to run over the banks?

A bridge supposedly just collapsed near Browning and some folks are being evacuated as we speak. Here in Conrad it's been raining nonstop for days.

Here in helena its just letting up. We did some running around this week. Every creek and river we saw from choteau to great Falls to missoula and back to helena was bank full and some were already over. If the snow pack melts fast some low lying spots are in trouble.

They are having creeks flooding into town in Bozeman and expecting flooding on the Gallatin near Logan, the Bighole near Melrose and Jefferson near Twin Bridges. It's flood city around these parts and the rain is still coming down. Boy is my grass green!!!!

We got just under 3 1/2 inches of rain in just 4 days last week here in Great Falls.
The mighty Missouri here in Great Falls is running at just under 11,000 cfm, as Holter dam takes the load off of the Canyon Ferry dam/reservoir.
If you ever wanted to see the glory of the Great Falls of the Missouri, now would be the time as Black Eagle dam has all of her gates opened wide, to let the water cascade over the falls. It's a rather glorious site I might add.
Local flooding, though the Missouri is running high, has been mostly confined to the Dearborn and the Sun rivers with minor occurances on our many local streams. (SR 200 was closed for a while at around Simms last week)
As far as excitement goes really, we had a tornado touch down and stay with us for a while between here and Ft. Benton at Carter last week.
This week, however, we've got the usual severe thunderstorm alerts and the all so common hail storms.
