Any airline pilots on here?
I live in Northern MN, and we're moving to MT- not sure when or where exactly at this point... Since I'm based in DTW, I'm wondering about the commute. BIL, HLN, GTF are the primary fields I'm looking at commuting from. Any input??? Thanks.

If it helps at all we have a neighbor who is a UPS pilot that is based out of FCA and as far as I can tell he loves it.
It would help to have a little more specific question to answer. Are you worried about winter driving, traffic or what?

Sorry Jim, that was mostly directed at the pilots that may be on here. Specifically I was wondering about the flights out and how frequent/full they were. Thanks for asking for clarification- sorry about the pilot-speak.

I suspect you could find much of this information by doing an inquiry on Orbitz, Priceline or similar travel site. This would give you airlines, cost, schedules, equipment used, etc. often times then you can research such things a on-time from other sites that keep statistics for travellers.

In Bozeman I don't believe there are any regular's into Detroit... Salt Lake, Atlanta, LA, Minneapolis, Seattle, Denver, Las Vegas, and Boise are the ones I can come up with off the top of my head. Next time I run into my buddy who flies for NWA (or Delta now I guess??) out of BZN I'll hit him up. When (if?)Great Lakes gets up and going there might be more jump options for ya.

Thanks timberwolf, I'd be interested in hearing what he has to say about the commute from there.

I used to live in Bozeman and there were at least three pilots who lived in our neighborhood.
Two were with NW and one was with Alaska.

Dunno if they still do this, but back-when, the local pilots would waggle their wings on the way in, saying Hi to their wives. Pretty funny to see a commercial jet doing that!
I used to live right next to the Belgrade airport so got to see this occasionally
One day I saw a near-crash -- some idiot cropduster pulled right in front of an incoming 737 when it was only seconds from touchdown. Didn't know a 737 could pull up that sharp!!

more than likely the "jumpseat" will be open if you are employed with the Airline....
