Not the president of the club, the secretary that's been involved for decades- No one one could corroborate this 'newcomer' complaint stuff. No concerted effort to close the range. Nothing in the local rag, nothing in google searches- seems like a conceived problem that really isn't there. Funny- I shoot there, know about 1/4 of the 400 members and I've not heard boo about this 'newcomer' problem. I also ask questions and am generally inquisitive.

I don't know of the pistol range on Custer. Maybe before my time. I shoot handguns on my property or at my friends house over off Canyon Ferry Rd.

You sound familiar. Are you related to someone on the boards in Montana?
The pistol range was at the facility on Custer. It was a great and convenient place to shoot. Of course, that was before all those stores set up shop out there.

Not related to anyone on City Data that I know of.

Unhappy What?

[quote=Heron31;63615599]According to this article, "...more than 13,000 Californians moved to Montana since the beginning of the pandemic." Which is surprising since Montanans -- many on this forum anyway -- absolutely hate Californians. You wouldn't think they're being welcomed with open arms.

How asinine to "absolutely hate" Californians. To just generalize and hate all people coming from a certain state is a reflection of the personality of that person. That said, I THINK I understand WHY they may feel that way on certain issues - I might agree. However, many, just like others/Montana natives, just long for settings that are good for the soul. Many CA residents are from other states. I am from Illinois but have lived in California for over 20 yrs. I am of an age where I just want to get along, find contentment, and be a decent human to others when and where I can. And that's who I prefer for neighbors.

CA being the most populated State in the nation - yeah, they're everywhere and I don't blame them for fleeing that absolute clown show.

Once the pinnacle of 'the good life' in America, CA has become an absolute joke.

The families from CA that moved into our area are good, upstanding, conservative folks ... more than welcome here.

Some of that hatred is due to the high cost of living and loss of access to public lands that has happened with rich people moving in. Some of it is good old fashioned paranoia.

Illegal immigrants will live two or four families per single family unit, so they will take the jobs.

If Montana's leaders had foresight, they'd enact occupancy restrictions now to prevent the predictable decline.

But they won't, because most politicians are greedy, selfish, and do not think beyond their own generation.
And along with the illegal immigrants will come crime and fentanyl.

Its happening almost everywhere they land foot.

Along with education and healthcare will suffer.
