Are these homeless like Cali's homeless in that, they are coming from everywhere else?
Yellowstone was basically a redo of Dallas, and just about as relevant. Just no J. R. Ewing to keep it interesting.
You do know most of the show was filmed in Utah, right?

We're you expecting Yellowstone to have a positive impact on Montana?

A nice, deep recession/depression should sort things out if the Fed has the stones to do what needs to be done.
Squatters in the forest as in illegal camping? In RVs or tents? Are the displaced people those who lost their homes due to foreclosure?

I don't think the actual location of the filming is relevant. People hear the location as assume it's accurate. It seems Utah is the go to location for any western locale. The most egregious was in Blood and Oil. It was filmed around Park City and was supposed to be North Dakota.

Missoula may have some transitory homeless, but other areas it’s pretty much homegrown. Some people can’t afford to live here anymore but work here. Bozeman has a cottage industry of workers living in old RV’s on any given vacant lot or side street.

Or you have people that simply don’t care for their homes, don’t care about paying bills and let their homes go to foreclosure and then figure out a way to live outside of norms. I call them locusts. Or drug addicted domiciles.

IMO it's usually addicted homeless people you're seeing....

& The economy in Montana is seasonal. People who run into hardship financially end up unhoused.
