Heh heh.... that post was my feeble attempt at sarcasm. There are plenty of berries, if you can beat the birds and black bears to them!

So..how would you Huck fans describe the taste of these berries you all seem to be so mad about? The only thing I ever picked as a kid was blackberries and mushrooms. Most blackberry bushes are regarded as noxious plants here, and sprayed with poison nowadays.
Just ain't no fun anymore. So, let me live vicariously through you guys..what do Hucks taste like??

The Huckleberries in Montana are really a mountain blueberry, they are different than the red or the blue huckleberries one finds in the Puget Sound region and they are not the same as the huckleberries found east of the Mississippi river. They taste like mild blueberries to me. Sprinkle a few on your pancakes they're pretty good.

Maybe that's why I haven't seen what is called a huckleberry in MT... didn't recognise 'em because they're something else!

Gooseberry is the green/sour variant, and the red/sweet variant was what I learned to call a "huckleberry". It's a big spiny bush. They do grow in Bozeman, I had one in my back yard!
