Last I heard Tiny's Tavern in Charlo, MT was for sale. This is in the mission valley though, not the mountains. Great views, close to the mountains, small family friendly town.

I'm curious.

How could anyone make a bar a profitable venture in a very rural community with a population of 200 in a very rural area with extremely long winters?

Seriously???? Drinking is the big pastime here LOL....
I would guess you'd have to own it outright, be retired and not really need income from the bar.

I was at Glasgow AFB in 1966. There was one bar between the base and the city...it was always loaded, but it wasn't a very fun crowd. There was another place in Fort Peck called the Silver Dollar. The entire place...bar, walls, tables, everything had siver dollars inlaid.

The place must have been worth a fortune when the price of silver went to $50 in the early 1980's..

We have a nice tavern for sale in Gardiner Montana. Its called the Devil's Slide after a prominante geologic formation close to town. Contact Brian the owner at 406-848-7506. I think he is asking around 350,000 and the building liquor license is included. This is where the locals hang out.

Plus Gardiner Montana is the north Entrance to Yellowstone Nat'l Park. It had 3 1/2 million visitors this year 2007. You do the math. Busy in summer slows a bit in winter but has a good client base. I believe there are 4 employees.

I think running a tavern in Montana is like owning in a gym in Miami or Malibu. Lots of clientele, but lots of competition too.

And down the road 8 or 9 miles but on Highway 93 (between Missoula and Kalispell), I have heard that the 44 Bar is for sale. Bar, restaurant, convenience store - nice place for a good hamburger or pizza - lots of locals. 406-745-3018 ask for Babe.
