That's another thing I miss from the plains -- REAL thunderstorms, with lightning that looks like the end of the world, and thunder like the voice of god.

Where I lived on Tower Road east of Belgrade, there was a little pit (maybe a foot deep and 10 feet across) in the field behind my trailer. During lightning storms, that little pit got hit repeatedly. I dunno what was buried there, but I felt absolutely no urge to find out.

(Conversely, I never once saw the big tower across the road get hit. ???!!)
