[laughing] When I was a kid, a common prank was to drop a bag of zucchinis on someone's doorstep, ring the bell, then RUN!

One zucchini plant can feed India!

Last time I grew zucchini, it (singular) produced so many that I wound up with zucchini poisoning.

My favorite way to use them is to cut them when they are about 4 to 6 inches long. Slice them about the thickness of a half dollar, then dip in tempura patter seasoned with chile powder and fry in olive oil. Drain and season with salt and pepper. Dip in your favorite dip such as salsa, mustard, ketchup or ranch. Yummy !
We keep having neighbors bring us garden veggies and homemade wine etc. I think a lot of folks over plant just to be able to give food away. It's the neighborly thing to do !

Rickers... Sounds like you could be the only person in the world to make a Kayak Shop/Restaurant work! (Check out the boat while you sample the morels and zucchini!)

Shoot throw in a couple cold ones with that combo and I'd be a regular!

Zucchini bread!!!
Or slice them lengthwise and brush with a garlic/olive oil combo and grill for a few minutes on both sides. Do the same with tomatoes,yellow squash,red onion (or Vidialia onion) and a portabella mushroom. Mix with pasta of your choice and drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with fresh parmagana reggiano,pepper and sea or kosher salt. You could even toss in some crumbled feta or blue cheese at the end if you want.

And if you're still hungry, while the grill is still hot slice a couple of bannana's in half lengthwise, leave the peel on and throw them on the grill peel side up. Add a couple of pineapple slices (canned if need be) or half peaches and grill until carmalized and hot. Toss over some vanilla ice cream if you can keep your hands off of them until then!

Well the restaurant Idea is on a major hold because we don't have enough money to do the required improvements for running a restaurant. The kayak business is going well though and our handcrafting endeavors seem to be going the direction of just manufacturing jewelry and wholesale sales. We can do without the storefront and have found a tenant to rent the front store area of the building. We will be moving all of our operations to the rear portion of the building and will just do business out of the rear portion off the alley. There are several stores that carry our products and we can't keep up with the demand. No need for a store front as the actual profit from our own stores sales doesn't equal the amount in our pocket from leasing it out.

Hey, what all are the "required improvements" for a restaurant? Other than the obvious, being a kitchen that's up to code...

There used to be a tiny Chinese restaurant here (well, North Hollywood) that had all of 3 little tables and about 8 chairs, in a storefront so small that they barely fit in the space. Did real well for a long time, tho it's gone now Good food cheap, and so clean you could eat out off the floor. Anyway, point being size isn't everything -- a counter with 6 stools would do well if it served up a good meal at a fair price.

We would have to cover walls with an easily cleaned surface, rebuild the restroom to be handicapped accessible, Put in three sinks and a small hand washing sink where the drains dump openly into a sewer line that is twice the diameter of the sink drains, (to prevent sewer back ups from coming up into the sinks, goes on the floor instead !). There are a bunch of other hoops they want us to jump through also. We probably bit off a little more that we could chew with all of our ambitious plans. Now today we'll close up early and go eat lunch at Kow Loon in Shelby. Low mein, yummmmm !

Yikes, sounds like more work and expense than it'd be worth. Maybe a roach coach would be a more practical investment -- you can buy those ready-made, and sell 'em when you get tired of 'em
