Moderator cut: edit There are plenty of people who do not hate anybody that actually do not want their children raised in a school system that promotes the gay and lesbian agenda. I think you are the type of person who hates other people and you are scared to admit it. Most people in Montana accept everyone. They are the nicest people I have ever met. They accept you for who you are from the moment they meet you. It is truly a blessing to live here. For the most part there is no agenda at all here. They are just nice down to earth people here.

Too cold, too landlocked, and when I was talking to a realtor he was driving 2 hours to go show a house.
Sounds like heaven to me!

I honestly think that people flee here more to get away from the breakdown of family values that is making it difficult to raise kids around the US. The family unit is much more a part of society here than any of the bigger cities. I do not think in any way that is racist. Although I am sure if you look hard enough you call me a racist somehow.

My husband and I want to move there for many reasons but the main two, it's cold :-) and we would love to be able to go in somewhere and here english. I'm sorry if that sounds racist but I think if you want to live here you should learn english not the other way around. Thats like if I were to move to say France I would learn French I would expect them to learn English.

Like I say in many of my posts, visit first in winter before you decide that you like the cold. It's easy to say in Texas that you want something cold but then you may not like winters here after all. So visit first in all seasons to see if you actually like it here.

As far as getting away from the hispanic population, there are many places you can move to besides Montana that have primarily English speaking population. One thing that is worth mentioning is that English is not the official language of the US - we do not have one. Congress has considered it but never made it law. French is the official language of France though.

I have never visited Kalispell; however, here are two opinions from friends who have--

"It's a great place to escape the heat in Florida and great for a second home. Love the scenry, people and seemingly slower pace."

From an uncle who left Wisconsin--"I made the best move of my life."

And I have quotes from people who lived in the Flathead Valley and have since moved on.

"There are a lot of places where it's sunny there and not here in the Flathead."

"It's pretty but there's nothing to do and it's gray all the time there, you never see the sun."

"There's no jobs or work in the Flathead and you can't eat the scenery."

I love it when it's gray, cloudy and cold to me that what winter is all about. It got down to 25 here the other day and I was outside walking dogs in just my nightshirt and thought it felt great. NOw it's sunny and 70ish and I HATE it, it just doesn't feel like winter. There is nothing to do here either and we don't mind. We live in a SMALL town with a Subway, Sonic, DQ and some MX resturants and a small overpriced grocery store. We drive 30min for a Wal-Mart and an hour for malls. We like to go outside and walk but as far as shopping, movies ect... you can do that online. We live a very quiet life w/ our dogs:-) I quess some would say we are boring but that's who we are. The only thing that worries me is the lack of jobs and leaving my family. My husband is a truckdriver and I'm a dog groomer.

Don't let these negative posters scare you. The winters are not as advertised. If you don't mind grey skies durig the winter you will love it. The rest of the midwest and great lake states are 30 to 40 below this week and we were in the 40's above. If you like to ski in the winter you will be fine all year round with things to do.

We just had several days below zero for the actual temperature with a 20 to 30 degree below zero windchill. I'm in Chicago by the way. I definitely have to leave here, but my parents need my assistance and I can't just leave them.
