Two Dot takes its name from a local cattleman H. J. 'Two Dot' Wilson. Mr. Wilson was given the nickname of 'Two Dot' because of his unusual cattle brand of a large dot on the shoulder and another on the thigh, a clever brand to deter cow thieves. Twodot is located in central Montana, on US Highway 12 between Harlowton and White Sulphur Springs.

I stopped there and had a couple beers this summer. I was thinking of going that way in acouple weeks. cool little bar, spent most of my time looking at all the different beer cans on the wall. I bet right now the wood stove is working hard. I thought two dot was my secret place! You know its gottin crowed if two dot becomes a tourist stop.

There are plenty of secret little places in Montana that time will never find and that progress will never be interested in.... I don't think that Two Dot will become a tourist stop anytime soon. The Jawbone Railroad came in the fall of 1899 and the Town of Big Elk, a few miles to the south, was moved to the rail head and became Two Dot in 1900. Big Elk? Two Dot? The Jawbone Railroad? I'll bet my bottom buckaroo that folks visiting these Montana threads just think we're nuts.... ![]() Oh, and before I forget..... In case anyone could ever be interested in this.... Ekalaka is known for having a very high density of nesting raptors. Last edited by GiftShoppeGuy; 02-03-2007 at 12:23 AM. |

Did you see where the old schoolhouse in Two Dot is for sale? If it had more acreage, I'd be interested myself. Looks like it's in great shape.

Price wasn't bad either, as these things go right now. Think of it as a big house with one acre of land. As I recall, they want to sell it to fund some other community project.
