Default Sitting in a motel in Bozeman searching....

I'm on a 'hurricane vacation' from Louisiana where after a week they still have not restored power to Baton Rouge, so I'm in no hurry to get back.

I'm recently retired and looking into moving to a 'cooler' climate as I've long since had enough of sweltering summers that seem to last year-round. That and non-stop traffic everywhere as our city is overrun by former New Orleans residents from Katrina who don't want to move back. My first choice was Colorado, but after my drive through there it's not the same place I fell in love with some 20 years ago. It's way too crowded and much more expensive than I remember, but I suppose that can be said just about everywhere.

Then I stayed in West Yellowstone and loved it. Not much in the way of affordable housing as they cannot expand their city limit (or so the realtor told me) so the prices are now in the 300-500k range for an average house. Couldn't even find a decent place to rent as everything is filled up until about mid-Oct so I might check back then.

So here I am sitting in a motel in Bozeman checking out Craigslist for MT apartments. Anaconda might be worth a visit tomorrow but I'm open to suggestions from MT residents who could provide some food for thought. Since I'm retired employment/commuting is not a problem, though several residents of West Yellowstone said most ppl there use snowmobiles to go grocery shopping during the heavy snow months lol.

I'm glad you've found a suitable place to ride out the storm, so to speak. Happy hunting!
