Yep, exactly. If you walk around going "Look at me, I'm so put-upon", most people will respond with, "No, you're an idiot", and people generally don't like idiots... especially idiots who then interpret that as "racial hatred". What makes you so special?

I used to be sympathetic to the "plight" of illegal aliens. Then I moved to SoCal. After living next to the influx and seeing its effects firsthand for going-on 25 years, I'm now all for gun turrets at the border. A great deal of the problem would be solved overnight by simply ending entitlement citizenship. It made sense 200 years ago, when America was still labour-poor, but not today, and especially not when other countries openly regard the U.S. as a dumping ground for their surplus and criminal populations. Make it just like the whole rest of the world -- a baby is a citizen of the same country as its parents, NOT of where it chanced to be born.

2.10.01 Recently Anaheim (or one of its adjacent cities, I forget) invoked a little-known snippet of Federal law to allow local police to act as an arm of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, for the purpose of arresting (and ultimately deporting) illegal aliens. Predictably, an outfit called something like "Coalition of Latin American Citizens" went ballistic, claiming this was "prejudicial" against Latinos. Excuse me? What part of "illegal" did you not understand?? And an advocacy group for Latin American (if you don't know, that means south of the United States/Mexico border) citizens? What's wrong with this picture??

I don't have a problem with people who immigrate and become Americans -- by which I mean they try to fit in and DON'T try to force ME to "respect" THEIR culture by imposing it on ME. Oh yeah, my ancestors imposed their culture on your ancestors -- does that mean you can't learn from our mistakes??

LOL!! Yeah, I've seen that... and they'll call your policy and candidate stupid, but can't give you a single reason WHY that is. Yet they repeat the same failed policies over and over and can't seem to figure out that they don't work... except to keep certain people in power. (Frex, our own Deep South -- if the policies in use worked, then why, after 170 years of being a welfare state, is it still the poorest part of the country??)

This thread is the very reason I have decided to look at another state.People are just people no matter what color their skin is or where they are from.Some are good and some are bad but all people are created equal and loved in GODs eyes.We are white and our children are black.And children that are raised in love and acceptance are loving and accepting of all people. It is the time for acceptance and tollerance from everyone.Please try GOD Bless you all.

If you have black children you might be wise to choose another state. We don't have many blacks here so they probably would be treated different.

Actually the 2 black kids in the high school here get along just fine and have many friends. No one treats them any different and wouldn't unless a chip on the shoulder showed up...

The more isolated the community the less mainstreamed it is. Just because there may be a comment or two is just that. In the past one was allowed to make an observation, comment, open the floor to a response. Just because no one says anything does not mean the malice or prejudice is not there. I have found it refreshing since coming to eastern Montana to find people not afraid to put it on the table, no window dressing. It was a shock at first but once I found my voice with respect, I know where I stand. Buck up people. The world is tuff.

I want you to take a good look at the world around you. When you start your information about your family with racial prefaces you open yourself up to interpretation. It is NOONE's business the makeup of your family. I think if you are presenting yourself in this manner you could be setting yourself up for failure. Do not feel you have to justify yourself. At the same time anything that is different will evoke a response. You signed up for this duty so I will advise you to put on a little thicker skin. Be glad that you are seeing that the world may just not always bend to you. It is a terrible expectation that our country has gotten into.

It's the difference between, "These are my kids. Aren't they black??" and "These are my kids. Aren't they great??"

The first shows off their differences, and to most people, that sounds like you're looking for trouble. The second shows off normal parental pride, and to most people, sounds like the same thing you hear from ANY parent.
