If so... I sure hope they'll be like the originals. There is absolutely NO other cookie that can substitute for Hydrox. Two Hydrox in my lunchbag every day, it wasn't lunch without 'em!

Since I'm here, I looked up some news items on the case... there are plenty out there. Whatever the facts, I get the impression this James Main Jr. fellow is not entirely blameless:

Havre Daily News -- this one has a lot of detail about the incident.
"Snow testified that a scuffle occurred after Main and Kvelstad began arguing about the European settlement of the New World, including Main putting his arm around Kvelstad’s neck and choking him until he blacked out."

Yeah, this Main fellow sounds innocent as a newborn babe...

Another article certainly paints him that way... but I also notice this site's real mission seems to be to sell books to and get donations from every fringe movement on the planet.

I'm not saying James wasn't guilty of wrestling with Kvelstad, maybe he did. I wasn't there, so I don't know, but everyone at the party seems to agree , they sat down and had a drink,, together after "the Scuffle" or "choking" as I said elsewhere on here, the headlock James aluded to is one that children can do on adults (check the net, or U-tube) for "sleeper hold" or choke hold. There is one guy who states he's done this 1000 times and no-one was ever hurt! I looked at loads of these tapes and many (most) get up laughing saying "do it again!" The term "choking" sounds serious if you haven't seen this done. Again that is what I'm saying , everything was twisted, to present James as a vicious killer. I do not believe that! There simply was no motive. Maybe like a person who hits a person in a car, he could have been charged with "reckless endangerment, but there is no cause for "deliberate Murder" that is my point. And the fact that Kvelstad stayed there indicates he felt no fear from James. He was alive , and surely should have left the party, at that time. In fact I wondered to what degree is a person liable for his own behavior? Is there anything in the law that if a person knowingly endangers his own self, is he responsible, to take care of himself? I cannot think why Kvelstad should have stayed there, if he felt the least bit threatened. And I don't think he did feel threatened. I think someone else did this to him..or he simply died from alcohol poisoning.And that Norquay may have put the string around his neck after.. sometimes things are not as they appear. And I do agree, that Native Americans who truly have done wrong, should be punished , but to a "jury of their peers" not eleven whites and one Native American. It is the law and was not followed , in my mind. If a white guy in Montana was accused of killing (or any crime against )a Native American do you seriously think , a jury of 11 Native Americans and one white person would be allowed???? I doubt it!!!! Show me one case in Montana where that happened!! I'll bet I can found thousands of the reverse! I agree many Native Americans do not do as they should, the first being , not get drunk or do drugs to the point they leave themselves open to these kind of accusations.(anyone who gets that drunk or does drugs is at the same risk) But by staying sober, keeping your wits about you ,would surely prevent many from getting in trouble!No matter what race!! Loss of control due to alcohol, drugs or even prescription drugs has turned many lives across the country upside down!! But I do feel jailing people like this is not an answer , but long term rehab. building of self esteem and lowering of unemployment rates will help!! The unemployment rate amongst Native Americans is unforgivable in the USA. what do they have to do all day?? I cannot imagine that 33% to 69% unemployment rates amongst Native Americans will make them feel proud, happy , or healthy. The purpose is to take away their pride , make them feel useless, and lost and poor, hopeless. This is the fault of us and our government for allowing things to get so bad! So seriously out of control!! In Ct. we are worried about 7 to8% unemployment!!! It is nothing compared to Native American statistics , and those are only the reported ones!! And a girl like Missy Snow with so much trouble in her past, Norquay ,too, and even Kvelstad who was reported at first to be "indigent" turns out he has a rather good sized family. Much of the troubles of these folks go back to a lack of respect, or even abuse they were given at young ages or in their early teens. Always being presumed " Guilty", and having to try to constantly prove they are innocent. After a while, being brain washed that they were "bad" or "stupid" I'm sure , would make them depressed, sad, or hurt.Children who know they are loved, have confidence and self esteem, rarely if ever get involved in these kind of situations. It is a result of negligence on the part of the society in which they grew up.. Havre and Montana, do not appear to be kind, or caring of Native Americans. It is very sad...

I agree, ignorance is bliss! I think it should be required reading in all school, the true history of Native Americans!! It is important to hear both sides of the story and there are two. Not to acknowledge the devastation on Native Americans is wrong. To pretend whites were the first people here is this country is plain ignorance. Native Americans were here at least 10 to 14,000 years!! Whites were hardly the first!! And this country was in far better condition , the people, the animals, the trees, the air we breath and the water were all healthy . We have abused The Native Americans, abused the animals, killed millions of both. It is a holocaust that should never be forgotten! And yet Native Americans stood by our sides in almost every war, fighting for freedom in this country. Whites came here to get away from persecution in England and Europe, yet we have persecuted Native Americans, nearly to extinction. It is a terrible thing and a long standing crime of the worst kind. I cannot think where more people and animals were killed or more land destroyed over a period of hundreds of years. We are the "bad guys" and it's time we admitted and made reparations.Canada, New Zealand and Australia are equally liable for misdeeds to indigenous peoples. The time has come to make amends, beginning with respect and improving the health, welfare and lives of these people. Taking Indian kids away from their homes and parents was and is wrong. Forcing them off their land and into reservations is wrong, forcing them to forget their languages, religions and history is wrong ,forcing them to learn our religions, our languages, our history is wrong. Taking and destroying their sacred lands, their homelands, their homes is wrong! All of that must stop. They should have full sovereignity on their reservations.We have not kept our promises to them. They deserve reparations.Chief Joseph, said he hoped for a future where we could all get along. I look forward to that day too. To paraphrase him, we are all brothers and sisters on this planet,we should not do harm to our family. We must learn to get along and respect each other, no matter how different we are . We are all people of this earth.

So when exactly do they stand up and help themselves instead of wallowing on the res saturated in booze or drugs and crying poor me?
I don't buy into what happened 100-200 years ago controls the indians today but attitudes like yours does. What about free will? Is someone standing at the gate with a gun telling them they can't leave and find a JOB or is it the fact they get money handed to them that prevents leaving? As for reparations, ain't gonna happen in your lifetime nor mine thankfully.
Time to get over placing guilt trips and pull yourself up by the bootstraps and make your way in the world instead of blaming others for your condition.

My personal belief is this.
Racial restoration is like personal restoration. At some point, you have to forgive and move forward.
Yes there needs to be restitution, but that will never restore anyone. Say for instance a man is kil-
ed. His widow and children recieve a large sum from his insurance company and his murderer is exe-
cuted. There has been financial restitution and justice both. Niether one of these will help this wo-
man move on. Yes there has been a great wrong, but is up to her to make the choice to move on.
You can blame the murderer for what he did but you cant blame him for how someone chooses to
respond to his wrong.

native people try to help themselves there are some who are drunks and there are some who have left that behind and made something of themselves or are trying however they are oppressed we are help back and discriminated against as much as we were 200 yrs ago. you dont see it cause your not native, walk in our shoes and you would see.you were homeless that is wonderful you were able to help yourself, but if you would have been native, you wouldnt have had the same opportunity. race has everything to do with it. i know its happened to me and to much of my family.
