A friend and I are thinking of coming to Whitefish for the winter and I was wondering if it's important to secure a rental before the season starts? Meaning do rental rates go up in the winter and are there still places to be found at this time? Also, do most landlords require you to sign a 6 month lease?
Any information provided would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone knows of any good deals to be had in Whitefish please let me know!

I can't answer all your questions, but my experience has been that I have been required to sign a 6-month lease for the winter.
Have you looked in the
Whitefish Pilot , at their classifieds? I would also suggest asking the staff at the motel where you stay, at the places you eat, at every other place you go. Most everyone in the hospitality industry who caters to the public knows most everyone else, and I'll bet folks know someone who knows someone... It's very late in the year to line up a 6-monther, so I wish you well.
