I'm looking forward to a trip to Montana this summer but I keep reading about these Hobo spiders. Are they really a problem out there(in the Kalispell area)?

Default hobo spiders

thankyou for the link, but I've read a ton of articles on hobo spiders. I was wondering if anybody had some personal encounters with the little beasties.

There's a lot of talk about them on the ID forum. Never heard of them till I was checking out ID as another possible location.

I've never heard of Hobo spiders. Do they ride freight trains and travel around the country?

Yes...had a guy I worked with get bitten. Nasty wound. It was really having a reaction with his skin. Yuck! I saw one walking down the street one day (no joke--it looked like it was taking a creepy little stroll), but I've not had one in my house that I know of. My best friend had a problem with them in her house. I would've moved based on that alone...arachnophobia! I'm not sure about Kalispell, but we do have them around Helena.
