Maybe I haven't been paying as close attention as I thought...
but I don't particularly remember Obama talking about Gun Control in his campaign. As a matter of fact, I don't see it listed in his list of issues on his site:
Barack Obama and Joe Biden: The Change We Need | Policy Issues
I do however find some info here:
Gun Control: 2008 contenders' views
and his quotes are directly here: Barack Obama on Gun Control
From what I can tell, and maybe I'm just too trusting... it sounds like he supports the individual right to bear arms, and is going to leave it up to cities and states beyond that.
Sounds pretty good to me. Moreover, you all might want to remember that Obama TAUGHT Constitutional law for years before turning to politics. I'm pretty sure the guy has a decent grasp on what was going on there.

I've run into some that are happy and voted for Obama but are seriously outnumbered by those that voted either McCain or Paul. I've heard many a joke about Obama but that's not unexpected, the jokes flew about Bush as well.
Am I happy about Obama? Not really but then I just disagree with his leanings but will hold my judgement until he actually does something. You never know, maybe when he sits in the 'big boy" chair in the oval office he'll get a flash of wisdom, fear, angst and realize what he does will affect the whole world so will temper his and his parties actions.
We'll see...

Has there been much talk about Dan Cooper (co-founder and President of Cooper Firearms) supporting Obama? It is my understanding that Dan has been asked to resign from the company because of the uproar about him supporting Obama in the election.

Not happy about it, but not real worried either. I guess we'll see how it goes. I'm not a big fan of liberalism though. It seems to raise our taxes and limit our freedoms when people start into that kind of thinking.
I wish more people believed in personal responsibility and less in government responsibility for individual issues.

When you take a look at his history regarding gun control a whole other picture is painted. It sort of contradicts what he states now ! I for one don't think he will (or can for that matter) jump on a bandwagon for gun control everywhere either (probably cause a revolution) and he will more likely leave it up to the individual stated, the way is should be, but his record does speak for itself.
Constitutional Law has been made out to be a tricky thing today. Take a look at the Supreme Court Justices. Their job is exact that, Constitutional Law. Where the controversy is starting to come in is that many of them want to interpret the Constitution with today's language NOT with the language used when it was created ! BIG difference. 60 Minutes did a piece on this a while back and it was very interesting.
Now, what side of the interpretation fence Obama is on with all his teachings, I don't personally know. It would be interesting to know though considering his stance on guns is in conflict with the 2nd Amendment Right that he teaches...

AK-47 is just a glorified hunting rifle. That's what it's mostly used for in Russia. I know someone in the Bozeman area who has one and he uses it to pot coyotes.

Now you know 2!
It's really funny how people think that when every AK or AR is an evil, full auto crowd ripper. I've had my AK since I was 17 and have used it for targets, deer, varmints, coyotes etc.. for years and years. It's very reliable, and requires very little maintenance. The 7.62X39 round is very similar to a .308.
I think people hear something on the news or in a rap song and assume it's more dangerous than any other rifle.
I'd be more scared of a guy with a vendetta and a .300 win mag than a guy with the same vendetta and a legal AK-47.

I for one am happy about the election results. I don't consider myself a hippie liberal or an uber conservative, I'm somewhere in the middle. I did not make my decision lightly, but studied each candidate's history, their plan, and really watched how they handled themselves during time of crisis.
I think a lot of the fear about Obama comes from all of the buzz words like "socialist" and "share the wealth" that can sound awful until someone researches the root of where they came from.
I have a feeling a lot of people who might be leery now of our new President will be pleasantly surprised when he takes office and makes some change. I don't think tax cuts for anyone in a middle income tax bracket is creating "hand outs", and I am looking forward to healthcare being made affordable for everyone.
Considering the median income in Montana is one of the lower ones in the country, and with such a large percentage of folks without medical care, I see his plan helping out a lot of people here.
Sadly, I live in a very rural area, where the fear propaganda penetrated deeply. I overheard one lovely gentleman in the IGA tell everyone in line on election day "If THAT GUY gets elected, he's going to put a F*#*(king turban on his head and turn us into a third world country."
Um. Really?
That kind of stuff bothers me. It's insulting, and has nothing to do with the issues at hand facing our country. I'm excited to see what happens here in the next six months.
