Hey,

Planning a vacation in Montana. Looking at June. Few questions.

1) Will there still be snow in early June?
2) Google Maps says it takes 3 hrs to get from Bozeman to Missoula. Is this true?
3) Anyone got some fave camping spots between those two towns?

Thanks! Look forward to seeing the state.

It should only take 3 hours to get from Missoula to Bozeman, or vice versa. Probably even a little quicker than that. There shouldn't be any snow in June. But Montana can get some weird, late snowstorms, so it's not impossible!

It's about 200 miles between the two spots; of course, drive time depends how fast you're going and how many stops you make.

Pipestone campground on the east side of Homestake Pass is a decent spot to camp. If you want to get away from the road, drive to the top of Homestake and take a right off I-90 and go about 9 miles into Delmo Lake. No services or anything, but a nice lake to camp beside. Road is pretty good going in; in June you can get some weather in there, so be prepared. There is also camping south of I-90 at Lewis and Clark Caverns. Here's a look at a list of the exits between the two towns: Montana Road Map RV Travel Guide: Interstate #90 Missoula to Bozeman

The high country is usually still covered with good snowpack in June, and it can snow in that month, too. It usually doesn't stick around long, but that depends on the altitude you're at. I have seen one or two June storms that did a pretty fair imitation of February. A more common occurrence is snow at the higher elevations and rain in the valleys.

Have a nice visit!
