Default Glasgow?

Wonder in anyone knows any information about the town like housing, the people, job market ect.. Getting the heck out of NC and Glasgow caught my eye.

Thanks.

Go to google and type in any name of town or city, followed by detailed profile to get all info on that town. Do the same at google images and get photos of town or city.

Yup done that. Not too much info on Glasgow. Has anyone passed through or stayed there? If not Glasgow what are some great cities in Montana?

Thanks.

Default What`s wrong with n.c., in a few words?

I know the job market is gone, but doesn`t those conditions make for a cheaper existance for those who can hang on?

I lived there for quite a while. there isnt much going on there. Most people that live there either have a good job or are just stuck there. Small town, pop of about 2500. If you are male about the only good job Glasgow has to offer is the railroad, BNSF. One of the few good things about Glasgow is its 20 miles from Fort Peck lake, which is a beautiful place (HUGE lake). Alot of people live in Fort Peck too (pop smaller than Glasgow). Not much to do in Fort Peck during winter months, which in Montana, is about 3/4 of the year. I wouldnt recommend Glasgow but it depends on what you're looking for. Looking for work? Somewhere Quiet?

Just one of the many local's that are watching our state change so fast and morphe into something we don't recognize anymore. Don't want any part of it.

Back to Montana. Definitely looking for some place quiet and smaller than Helena or Billings. Also don't mind the long winters.

Default The 1990`s

I bought a ticket from mississippi to washington in 1991, and got off the bus in billings for a rest. I stayed for 5.5 years. I wanted to see oregon and washington, so i left. I have been back several times, and every town of any size is catering to tourism. Billings really sucks. It is a carnival now, not the laid back, western town that it was in 91. I would not live there again for nothing. Helena was wonderful. Now is is crowded and beigh overbuilt downtown. It, too, has lost it`s identity. Missoula is now the one i would live in, if i had to pick one of the larger cities. Thank God for the highline. If the californians and washingtonians will stay away, it will be ok. I am glad to see people moving out of glasgow. Now, maybe i can move in with cheaper rent. I am a southern white boy of the 1950s, and i like being around whities. I am actually half indian, so fort peck, etc are ok too!...Willy

I lived in Glasgow for several years and love the people. It is definately a rural community. Hot summers and you know when it is winter. The wind constantly blows, it is the norm, but if you can adapt it isn't bad. The job market is not there. The town has slowly been closing alot of businesses for one reason or another.

There is Fort Peck Lake for great recreation, boating, fishing, etc. There is good hunting in that area as well.

Billings is a larger community over 100,000. Miles City is in eastern Montana as well, however, you are within 140 miles of Billings, 160 to Gillette Wyoming and easy access to travel with the interstate at the edge of town. Anyplace in rural Montana means driving to go to other places. Miles City has a Super Walmart that is being finished up and they have all of your other day to day necessity stores as well as specialty stores.

Hope this helps.
